PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Governor's Office of Economic Development received two Bronze Excellence in Economic Development Awards for its 2012 projects in the categories of Annual Report and Special Event for service areas with populations greater than 500,000 from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC). The 2012 Governor’s Hunt was the “special event” that earned the GOED the second award.
The honor was presented at an awards ceremony on Tuesday, Oct. 8, during the IEDC Annual Conference, which was held Oct. 6 - 9, in Philadelphia, Pa.

The award represents an acknowledgment and appreciation for the South Dakota Governor's Office of Economic Development’s dedication to continuous growth within itself, as well as improving the industry overall.”
“We put a lot of hard work into our projects, so we are honored to be recognized for our efforts,” said Pat Costello, Commissioner of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development. “This is a real testament to the talent and dedication of the South Dakota Governor’s Office of Economic Development staff.”

About South Dakota Governor's Office of Economic Development
The South Dakota Governor's Office of Economic Development (GOED) works to expand primary job opportunities for all South Dakotans. We strive to retain and expand existing businesses, foster new businesses, facilitate business succession and recruit out-of-state businesses. The GOED publishes a yearly annual report and distributes it to shareholders, media, partners and prospects. The intent of the project is to inform our shareholders about our success during the past year. We also use it as a recruiting tool for companies looking to expand to South Dakota. With the exception of the printing, this piece was done entirely in-house.
