Madison Gymnasts Earn 17th State Championship Title

The Madison gymnasts earned their 17th State Class 'A' Championship title on Friday, February 21st. The Bulldogs scored 141.400 points at the state meet in Aberdeen to win the title.
Finishing second was three-time defending state champion Deuel, with a score of 134.125 points. Chamberlain came in third place with 130.375 points.
Madison also had success in the individual competition on Saturday, February 22nd as they earned first-place finishes in all five events.
Senior Shannon Winthers became the first Bulldog since Kassie Finck in 2005 to claim four individual titles in a single State Meet. Winters placed first on the beam with a 9.250, the bars with a 9.550, and the vault with a 9.100, earning her first in the all-around competition with a score of 37.250.
Eighth-grader Jenni Giles won the floor exercise with a score of 9.575 and was Madison’s other individual champion.
