Election Date Set at Commission Meeting
Posted on Tuesday, January 8, 2008
While elections are being held today in New Hampshire, Madison residents can look forward to an election of their own in April. The Madison City Commission set the 2nd Tuesday in April, April the 8th , as the date for the 2008 city elections. April the 8th also corresponds with the date set for the Madison Central School District elections. As a result, the first date to file for elected positions will be January 25th, with a deadline of February 29th. Two Commission seats will be filled in that April election.
Also Tuesday the board approved Ordinance 1456, to increase the speed limit on the Airport Road to 45 MPH. And the board adopted The Madison Daily Leader as the legal newspaper for the city.
Commissioners also approved an agreement between the city and Banner Engineering. The water treatment plant has been experiencing some problems due to the age of the plants programmable control system. The current system was installed in 1996, and, according to Public Works Director Heath Voneye, needs to be upgraded. Banner will assist the city in developing a request for proposals, and will help with the selection of a new control system. The limiting fee for Banner Engineerings service is 9-thousand dollars.
The Commissioners also agreed to tour the Madison Water Treatment Plant before the January 28th Commission meeting.
