The Madison City Commission met in regular session Monday at City Hall. Commissioners acknowledged the December Building Permit Report, approved personal recommendations, declared two electrical transformers as surplus property, approved two license applications, and approved a resolution for a preliminary plat of the Lakeview Industrial Park Addition to the City of Madison.
Also Monday the City Commission heard the first reading of an ordnance to add churches to the conditional use for a general building zone, and set a hearing date for two weeks, pending written notice.
Mike McGowan appeared before the commission to appeal the board of adjustment ruling, involving the building of a metal garage on the 5 hundred block of South East 3rd street. The request for appeal was denied. McGowan said he will consider changing the garage to a wooden structure, permitted he is allowed to build it with twelve foot sides. Commissioners delayed that ruling to a later date.
Finally, the Commission adjourned into executive session for contract negotiations.
