State Parks Doing Well

2007 was a very good year for South Dakota's state parks. The number of camp sites rented this past year increased five percent in '07. But despite that success, the Department of Game Fish and Parks doesn't plan to stand pat. To keep the momentum going, the state parks are continuing to make improvements. New playground equipment and upgraded electric pedestals have been added at many parks. Custer State Park has seen the most changes in 2007. Camping cabins and electrical pedestals have been added in some of the campgrounds. The resorts in Custer park are also receiving major renovations. Day use at parks rose as well, with 180,000 more day visitors this year than last.
