Church Ordinance Moves Forward
Posted on Tuesday, January 29, 2008
The Madison City Commission held their final meeting of January last night.
The commission approved the specifications for a pedestrian bridge at the Maloney Nature area. That area is located on the North end of town, after the end of Egan avenue. A date for bid letting for the bridge was set for February 12th in the Commission room at 3:00pm.
Also Monday a water service form from Kingbrook Rural Water was acknowledged by commissioners. The city can choose to provide water service to the applicant who lives within three miles of the city limits, or the city can allow Kingbrook to provide that service.
Finally Monday the commission acknowledged the second reading of Ordinance 1455, which would add places of worship to the conditional uses for a General Building Zone.
Dean Feistner is the President of Good Shepard Lutheran Church of Madison, which has an agreement in place to purchase the old Job Service building. Feistner says last nights vote was just one of many steps in the process.
The Church currently uses the old Washington Elementary School as their church. Feistner says the amount of time they have to occupy that building is running out.
Feistner says the moving process will continue to push forward over the next few months.
The next Madison City Commission meeting is scheduled for Monday, February 4th.
