Legislators Explain Property Tax Bill at Cracker Barrel

Proposed changes to the way agriculture land would be valued for property taxes was major topic at Saturday's legislative cracker barrel in Madison. The new proposal would eliminate the 150% rule, and value Ag land instead on its ability to produce income. District 8 Senator Dan Sutton says the new bill should not increase taxes for most producers.
Representative Gassman says there will be a number of factors in determining evaluations.
Many of those involved in agriculture seemed to agree that the new proposal is better than the current system, but will still need a lot of work before it's put into effect.
