Pool Update at City Commission Meeting

Madison aquatics coordinator Carol Shaver, and Rick Solnman from Banner and Associates updated the Madison City Commission on the plans for the new city pool Monday. Solnman said some of the plans are subject to change, depending on were the bids come in. High bids may force some minor cuts in plans to be made, lower bids would allow some amenities to be added. Solnman said the project has a budget of three and a half million dollars. They hope to have final drawings done by mid March, with bids opening April 16th. Construction is expected to be completed by May 1st 2009.

Also Monday the commission authorized Mayor Hexom to sign the Madison Airport Disadvantaged Business Enterprise document.

A bid letting date of July 1st was set for an improvement project for south west 3rd street, plans for that project were approved at Monday's meeting as well. The project is expected to cost around 550,000 dollars.

The Commission then met in executive session with LAIC director Duane Chapel for contract negotiations.
