Thune Pushing for Lewis and Clark Money
Posted on Wednesday, February 20, 2008
The new budget from the Bush Administration reduced funding for the Lewis & Clark Regional Water System from about twenty six million dollars to zero for the upcoming year. Senator John Thune says there were political reasons for that, and he is confident that Congress will be able to restore funding for the water project.
Thune says its hard to say how much they can restore to next years funding.
The project, now estimated to cost about 500 million dollars, will pipe water from wells near Vermillion to towns and cities in South Dakota, Iowa and Minnesota.
