School Board Election has Candidates

After weeks of inaction, two candidates have emerged for the April 8th Madison Central School Board Election. Petitions have been taken out by Jay Niedert and Cory Heidelberger.

Niedert is the former alternative school director for AIM High and STRIVE High, the alternative schools serving the Madison and Dell Rapids areas. Recent Legislation, and financial decisions by the Department of Labor means that alternative schools could soon see more students, but less funding.

Cory Heidelberger is a former Madison High School student and teacher. He has also taught at Hartford, Lemmon, and most recently Montrose.

Three seats on the board will be open, if less than three petitions are received the new board will have to appoint a new member for the third time in as many years. Petitions for the April 8th school board, and City Commission election must be turned in by Friday.
