City Commission Approves Two Appeals

The Madison City Commission held its regular weekly meeting on Monday. A variance was approved for Brett Pierce for an addition to his home on North Van Eps. Rick Barger of Barger Electric appeared before the board requesting an appeal for his property at 211 South West 1st street. The building currently houses Enterprise Auto repair. Barger has made a number of improvements to the building. Jim Peterson of Peterson Collision has agreed to lease the building. Barger says Peterson Collision could add one or two more workers if they lease the larger building. The appeal was granted.
The commission authorized the mayor to sign a letter of support for the Lake Area Improvement Cooperations EDA grant application. Also approved was a resolution for a $225,000 loan to Rosebud Manufacturing, to help Rosebud acquire the old Arctic Cat building, purchase equipment, and expand their business.
The Mayor was also authorized to sign an engineering agreement with KLJ for an Automated Weather Observation System for the Madison Airport. The AWOS III is expected to increase safety, and grow business activity.
Also Monday the Commission authorized the Mayor to sign the restricted use permit site renewal application, approved the purchase of pickup for the Electrical Department from Prostollo's.
