Madison Student Honored for Poem

Dale Frewaldt, a senior at Madison High School, recently entered the Poetry Out Loud contest. Frewaldt submitted an award-winning original poem that was judged and chosen as a winner among the other young poets. He is now invited to read his original poem from memory in front of an audience. The performance will take place on March 17, at Edison Middle School in Sioux Falls. The reading is open to the public.

Poetry Out Loud is an oral interpretation contest that is recognized at a national level, but South Dakota is currently the only state that has created a category for original poetry submissions.

As an award for Frewaldt's success, he will be receiving $100 dollars and the Madison High School Library will be receiving a supply of poetry books.
