School Board Reviews Elementary School Issues
Posted on Tuesday, March 11, 2008
Elementary School Principle Dan Walsh was talking high numbers with the Madison Central School Board Monday. The Elementary School has been looking at enrollment projections for the 07-08 school year. The Current kindergarten class enrollment is 101 this year. 70 students have registered for next years kindergarten class. Walsh said that is about the same number that the current kindergarten class had at this time last year. With those two potentially large classes, Walsh told the board the elementary school may need to add some teacher aids for next year.
Superintendent Vince Schaefer told the board that, for public safety, all lights at the Elementary School parking lot will be taken down. Many of the lights, which were installed in 2006, have failed or in some cases collapsed. The school district will look at legal options to recover the cost of the lights. Schaefer said new lights will be constructed in the future.
Also Monday the board revised the grading systems to reflect changes in what is considered an Advanced Placement Class. The board also adopted a Student Homeless Policy, and approved a bid for new marching band uniform. The total bid price for the uniforms is $33,200.
