County Election Deadline is Tuesday

The deadline to file nominating petitions for state and county offices approaching quickly. The last day to file petitions is Tuesday the 25th. That means potential candidates have only the Easter weekend to find more signatures, and decided if they want to file for office or not.
Many local candidates have already filed for the November election. Lake County Treasurer Linda Fischer has filed for reelection to that position. Ted Weiland has also filed for another term as Lake County Coroner. The most contested race so far looks to be for the three available Lake County Commission seats. The candidate list currently includes democratic incumbent Craig Johanssen, and republicans Dan Bohl, Chris Giles, and Scott Pederson.
Current Madison School Board Member Rod Goeman is circulating a petition for County Commission. Goeman's term on the school board is expiring, and Goeman is not seeking reelection. Should Rod Goeman gather enough signatures, and choose to fill his petition by Tuesday, he would become the fourth republican in the County Commission race. That would then force the voters to narrow the republican field down to three in a June 3rd primary.
