Three Petitions Circulating for District 8 Seats

The Candidates list for the South Dakota Legislature could soon be expanded. So far only two candidates have filed petitions for District 8 seats. Former Legislator Gerry Lange will seek another two year term in the House, while fellow democrat Scott Parsley is running for the District 8 senate seat.

Several other petitions are circulating, current District 8 representative Russ Olson is gathering signatures for a potential run at the District senate seat. In the House, nominating petitions are circulating for Flandreau democrat Mitch Fargen, and Madison republican Jerry Johnson. Johnson's term on the Madison City Commission expires this year. Johnson, Fargen, and Olson now have the weekend to gather enough signatures, and must decided by Tuesday if they want to file them with the Secretary of State to become official candidates on the November ballot.
