Candidates Turning in Petitions Hours Before Deadline
Posted on Tuesday, March 25, 2008
Today is the deadline for potential candidates to file nominating petitions for state and county offices. While some may be waiting until the last minute, two candidates got their paper work turned in on Monday.
In District 8, current representative Russ Olsen will make a bid at the district senate seat. Olsen, a republican who is wrapping up his first term in the house, will run against democrat Scott Parsley.
In Lake County another name has been added to the list of county commission candidates. The candidate list currently includes democratic incumbent Craig Johanssen, and republicans; Dan Bohl, Chris Giles, Scott Pederson, and Roger Hageman. Now joining that list is democrat Gene Anderson. Anderson will be placed on the November 4th ballot along with Craig Johanssen and three of the republicans. With four republican candidates in the race, potentially five if Rod Goeman files today, a Primary will be held on June 3rd to narrow the GOP field down to three.
