Valley City State University Search Continues

The state Board of Higher Education has set a salary range for the next president of Valley City State University. The person will receive between $150,000 and $185,000 a year. President Ellen Chaffee is retiring. Chaffee right now is paid just under $153,000 annually. Five finalists to succeed her are being invited to campus for interviews next week. A search committee ultimately will recommend three finalists for the Higher Ed board to interview on April 21st and choose from. The new president will take office July 1st.

The five candidates invited for on-campus interviews are: Phil Harmeson, a University of North Dakota vice president; Steven Shirley, a vice president and dean for student affairs at Dakota State University in Madison, S.D. Blake Faulkner, president of the online campus at National American University in Rapid City, S.D. Guy Mills, an associate provost and dean of education at the University of Texas-Permian Basin in Odessa. Anthony Koyzis, an education dean at Wayne State College in Wayne, Neb.
