Students Will Not Make up Snow Day

The Madison Central School Board held their monthly meeting Monday, and heard from Tom Hammer in regards to art in the High School and Middle School. Tom is a senior at Madison High School, and an avid art student. He suggested to the board that a number of area artist would be interested in donating works of art to the school district. There would be some costs associated with the donations for matting and framing. The board decided to form a committee to look into any costs, and move forward toward finding art for the district.
The recent snow day last Friday has forced the school to make some revisions to the end of the school year. May 21st will still be the last day for students. Teachers will now make up the snow day as an eight hour work day, added to their schedule.
Superintendent Vince Schaefer said plans are under way to replace the light polls at the elementary school that were taken down, or in some cases fell down. The light polls originally installed at the elementary school vibrated to the point were they would collapse. The new polls are expected to be somewhat shorter, and will be replaced at no cost to the district.
Also Monday the Board approved the selection of Lunchtime Solutions to provide food service management for the 08-09 school year, approved Neumann Monson Wictor Architects to conduct a study of the High School Facilities, and awarded the bid for a school bus to Foreman and Services. The Board also approved the bid for a roof replacement project to BHI Incorporated for 236,000 dollars.
The Board also certified the results of last Tuesday's School Board election.
