Company Warns of Security Breach

Customers of Brookings-based Fishback Financial Corporation are getting letters advising them to watch their accounts for identity theft. Fishback Financial has banks or branches in eleven communities in South Dakota and one in Minnesota, including First Bank and Trust in Madison.

The company says a third party recently had unauthorized access to a computer database that includes people's names, addresses and Social Security numbers.

The letter says there's no evidence the information was stolen or has been used by anyone, but customers are advised to check their banking and credit card statements.

Executive vice president David Waligoske says other details can't be released because the it's still under investigation.

The Company suggests that customers check their credit report periodically, as a matter of caution.
