Academic Achievement Team Awards Anounced

The 2007-08 school year marks the Thirteenth year in which the South Dakota High School Activities Association has sponsored the SDHSAA Academic Achievement Team Award Program, to recognize athletic teams and fine arts groups for their academic excellence.

Any high school varsity athletic team or fine arts group in a SDHSAA sponsored activity is eligible to receive the Academic Achievement Team Award, provided the team or group achieves a combined grade point average of 3.0 or higher. With all the winter activities done for the year, a number of area teams learned that they have received the awards.

Those teams include: Arlington-Boy's basketball

Chester Area- Girls basketball

Colman-Egan- Girls basketball

Dell Rapids- Boys basketball

Dell Rapids St. Mary- Boys basketball, Boys basketball Cheerleaders, Girls Basketball, Vocal Solo-Ensemble, Band Solo-Ensemble

McCook Central-Boys Basketball, Boys Basketball Cheerleaders, Girls Basketball Cheerleaders

Sioux Valley-Wrestling Cheerleaders, Boys basketball cheerleaders, Girls Basketball Cheerleaders, Wrestling, Boys basketball, Girls Basketball, Vocal Solo-Ensemble, Band Solo-Ensemble

Tri-Valley- One Act Play, Boys Basketball Cheerleaders, Girls basketball, boys basketball, Wrestling, Band Solo-Ensemble.

The SDHSAA says the awards recognize the reality that high school students learn lessons and lifetime skills both inside the classroom as well as through participation in school athletic and fine arts activities, programs outside the classroom.
