Election Recount Ends in Tie

The race for the 2nd and final seat on the Madison City Commission is not over yet. After a recount, requested by Scott Delzer, ended in a tie. Monica Campbell and Scott Delzer each had 506 votes after Saturdays recount. After the initial election Monica Campbell had the lead by one vote.
City Finance Commissioner Jeff Heinemeyer said that he needs to get a hold of the Secretary of State to find out what needs to happen next. Ties are supposed to be settled by drawing lots, which means that some game of chance will be played to help chose a winner.
Dick Erickson won the first city commission seat, the winner of this race would have the second open seat.
