A survey of business executives shows a moderately strong economy in South Dakota, though its overall index of 53.8 for April was down slightly from 57.3 in March. Any score greater than 50 on the index indicates an expanding economy over the next three to six months.
The survey found that South Dakota's economy has maintained solid growth and its unemployment rate has dropped a half point in the past year.
Creighton University economics professor Ernie Goss says he expects the state's jobless rate to stabilize at its current level through summer.
