Gospel Great Dottie Rambo Dead At 74

GOSPEL SINGER DOTTIE JOYCE RAMBO DIES MOUNT VERNON, Mo.(AP) - Gospel singer-songwriter Joyce "Dottie" Rambo has died. She was 74. Rambo died yesterday in a bus crash in southwest Missouri.

Authorities say the bus ran off a road and struck an embankment. According to Rambo's Web site, she was on her way to a Mother's Day performance in Texas. Dolly Parton, who recorded some of Rambo's songs, has released a statement remembering her "dear friend." Parton writes "Dottie is in heaven in the arms of God right now, but our earth angel will surely be missed." Rambo was inducted to the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame in 2006 and the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2007.
