Dell Rapids Voters Head To Polls

A $16,000,000 bond issue will be put to a public vote in Dell Rapids today. The proposal would raise taxes nearly $3.00 for every $1,000 in property value.

If approved, the money would help build a new elementary school, gym and make additions to the high school.

Officials say the schools are very close to full capacity, and administrators have had to get creative to accommodate the growth.

Superintendent, Tom Ludens says, We have 2 temporary classrooms at the elementary, both 90-foot classrooms, but if we didn't have those we'd be very crowded at the elementary school.

Polls are open at the Dell Rapids elementary school gym and remain open until 7:00 tonight.
