Solicitation Arrest

A Mitchell man is charged after Sioux Falls police say he tried to solicit sex from what he thought was a 14-year-old girl.

But the "girl" turned out to be a police detective working to stop internet crimes against children.

Police Information Officer Sam Clemens says the man was arrested at a city park shortly before midnight on Monday night.

Clemens says 38-year-old Kirk Jeffrey Engman is charged with attempted sexual contact with a child under 16, solicitation of a minor and driving with a revoked license.
