South Dakota Farmers Union Scholorships

Mark Lee of Flandreau and Ana Schweer of Watertown were recently selected as recipients of the 2008 South Dakota Farmers Union (SDFU) Fly In Scholarship. The $1,000 scholarships cover expenses for a trip to the nations capitol, where the students will advocate agricultural policy to members of Congress and meet with US Department of Agriculture officials.

To be eligible for the scholarship, students were required to be active in either FFA or 4-H and were asked to write an essay on the role of renewable energy in South Dakota. Lee was selected to receive the FFA award and Schweer was named the winner of the 4-H award.
