Madison Gets Mosquito Control Money

Yesterday Governor Rounds announced the state is providing $412,000 for 172 local mosquito control programs. The Governor said supplemental funding may also be made available later this summer if mosquito hot spots are identified due to the flooding from recent heavy rains.

This is the fifth year the state Department of Health has awarded grants to help local control programs purchase mosquito control and chemicals. Since 2004, grants totaling more than $2.6 million have gone to local mosquito control programs.

The City of Madison will be receiving a total of $4116.03 for mosquito control this year.
