South Dakotan Elected To National Post

A South Dakotan has been elected to a top position with the National Corn Growers Association.

Darrin Ihnen of Hurley has been chosen as first vice president of the group, beginning Oct. 1.

That puts Ihnen in line to become president in 2010 and chairman in 2011.

South Dakota has not had a voice on the National Corn Growers Association board since 1999, when Lynn Jensen of Lake Preston was president of the organization.

Ihnen is a past president of the South Dakota Corn Growers Association and has served on its board of directors since 1999.

He also was elected to the South Dakota Corn Utilization Council last year.
