The Madison Police Department has new equipment in the form of a X-T-C-2 27 Speed Mountain Bike. According to Police Chief Chuck Pulford, the bicycle was purchased with funds received from the department's participation in a national prescription drug program.
Several Officers have been equipped with appropriate bicycle patrol uniforms and the remaining officers will be allowed to utilize the bicycle on a voluntary basis.
Pulford also plans to utilize the bicycle in neighborhood patrols by installing a bicycle rack on the back of a patrol car.
