Madison Gets Ninety Two Thousand Dollar Grant For Recycling Equipment

The state Board of Water and Natural Resources approved a $92,500 grant from the Solid Waste Management Program for Madison to purchase new recycling equipment.

Gov. Mike Rounds recommended the funding, which was approved when the board met Thursday and Friday in Pierre.

The project proposal calls for purchasing a new recycling material sorting conveyor, a new baler, and a new feed conveyor for the baler. The total estimated cost for all of the equipment is $186,650.

Madison Public Works Director Heath Voneye said they had hoped for a little more, but that the grant money will be used to purchase a new baler which, according to Voneye is the most needed item on the list.
