U.S. Senators Tim Johnson and John Thune and Congresswoman Stephanie Herseth Sandlin called on President George W. Bush to recognize the devastating effects of the June storms that produced tornadoes and flooding as a major disaster.
In a letter yesterday, the South Dakota delegation asked the President to instruct federal agencies to expedite the delivery of federal disaster assistance to the 27 counties and two reservations named in Governor Mike Rounds' disaster declaration request. Both Moody and McCook counties are included in the declaration.
