City Commission Shows Favorable Support For Street Lights

Last night the Madison City Commission voted unanimously to support a request by the AmericInn to seek state funding for installation of street lights along Highway 34 from Washington Street East to the city limits. City Engineer Chad Comes says this is still in the very early planning stages but that now is the time to show support in order to gain a favorable plan from the state for the project.
In other commission news, a bid by Duane Phelps for $28,600.00 was accepted for the sale of the city's surplus backhoe in addition to accepting a bid from Foothills contracting of Webster in the amount of $73,969.00 for the restricted use site cell construction. That project is expected to be completed by Mid October.
