Local Trucking Affected By Escalating Fuel Costs

In an industry that is sorely needed in the United States, truckers and trucking companies are feeling the fuel cost crunch more than most.

Jerry Johnson is co-owner of B&G Trucking in Madison and with 26 company trucks, Johnson says they're purchasing almost a half million gallons of fuel per year. They've governed the trucks back to 65MPH to try and cut costs and Johnson says they're asking drivers to cut back on idle time as well as attempting to slim down the amount of deadhead miles they run to try and help conserve the amount of fuel they purchase.
