Madison Commissioners Will Discuss $5.3 Million Wastewater Loan

The Madison City Commissioners will acknowledge a letter from the DENR during their regular meeting tonight.

Also to be discusses is the 2nd reading of an ordinance that would prohibit parking on the north side of 9th street between Prairie and Roosevelt Avenue during school hours. When school is in session parking would be prohibited from 7:30AM to 4PM.

Finally, the commission is set to discuss the approval of the Wastewater Improvement Loan. The 5-point-3 million-dollar loan would help to pay for improvements to the aerated grit chambers, pretreatment process, and final clarifiers. Screw pumps, oxidation ditch, sludge handing and treatment would all be updated with the approval of the loan. The loan is a part of the Board of Water and Natural Resources Clean Water State Revolving Fund, which offers low interest loans for wastewater, storm sewer and water quality projects.
