Winter Weather Preparedness Week

This is "Winter Weather Preparedness Week" in South Dakota...a reminder for state residents to prepare for the upcoming season and the weather it can bring. The week is sponsored by the National Weather Service and the state Office of Emergency Management. Greg Harmon...the meteorologist in charge at the Weather Service office in Sioux Falls says it's important to know about the information that's provided in the event of a winter storm: Experts say it takes more than a cell phone to be safe on the road...and that your vehicle should have a winter survival kit that includes...at a minimum...blankets...water... non-perishable food...a flashlight with fully-charged batteries, a distress flag and a shovel.
