City Commission Meets Today

The Madison City Commission will acknowledge a proposal Monday from Richard Amert of Amert Construction Co. regarding improvements to an alley on the 200 block of N.E. 9th St.

The commission meeting will start at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall.

Amert has proposed a one-way alley with an entrance at 9th St. and an exit on N. Harth Ave. He plans to attend the Monday meeting.

In other business, the commissioners will consider:

  • Hearing the second readings of two ordinances concerning traffic signs at S.W. 3rd St. and S. Union Ave and voting on their passage. The ordinances will remove yield signs for vehicles on 3rd St. and replace them with stop signs.

  • Authorizing the mayor to sign a second change order for the improvement project underway at the municipal wastewater treatment plant. The change order increases the original contract price from $4.76 million to $4.8 million and includes added demolition work and additional patching to concrete.

  • Making a reappointment to the municipal airport board.

  • Authorizing the mayor to sign an engineering services agreement with Ulteig Engineers for a sanitary sewer evaluation study that would start in November.

The commissioners will hold a supervisors' meeting at 4:30 p.m. Monday.
