Commissioners Approve Two Ordinances

The Madison City Commission gave final approval to two ordinances Monday evening... one to prohibit the construction of fences that enclose the city's manually read electic or water meters...and another to set the speed limit at 25 miles per hour on Southwest 3rd Street from Union to Highland.
The Commission scheduled hearings on five proposed ordinances... One would set refuse collection fees for two 30-gallon cans at $12.10 per month...for a 65-gallon garbage cart at $10.6...and for a 95-gallon cart at $12.10.
Another ordinance would set would set water rates...increasing the rate by about a $1.50 per month for a family of four. Yet another would set electric rates...increasing them by about $4.90 for the average customer. Another would establish emergency snow routes. And...yet another proposed ordinance would establish no parking zones in the Lincoln and 8th Street area.
The Commission acted to declare a list of transformers...wire and scrap metal...surplus.
