Commission Approves Five Ordinances

The Madison City Commission approved five proposed ordinances Monday evening.

One would set refuse collection fees for two 30-gallon cans at $12.10 per month, for a 65-gallon garbage cart at $10.60, and for a 95-gallon cart at $12.10.

A couple of other ordinances would set water and electric rates, increasing water for the average residential water bill by $1.50, and the average residential electric bill by $4.40.

Another would establish emergency snow routes.

And yet another proposed ordinance would establish no parking zones in the Lincoln and 8th Street area.

The Commission delayed authorization of the mayor's signature of an agreement with the City of Sioux Falls for landfill usage.

The Commission approved the reappointment of Gail Hamman to the Madison Library Board.

The Commission scheduled a hearing for the 2009 alcohol license applications on December 15th.
