Power Factor Study

The Madison City Commission has agreed to finalize a work plan for a 'Power Factor Study' of the Madison Municipal Electric distribution system and some of the larger users of electricity on the system.

City Commissioner Dan Bohl says once the work plan is finished D.G. and R., a northwest Iowa engineering firm, will study ways to make power flow more efficiently through the Madison system.

Bohl says East River Electric has an interest in the efficiency of the Madison system because the cooperative wheels power to Madison. He says the existing inefficiency is getting more expensive and he says East River won't eat the extra costs.
