$10,000 Interlakes Water Quality Committee Grant

East Dakota Water Development District has awarded the Interlakes Water Quality Committee a $10,000 grant to help with water quality improvement in Lake Madison.

District Director Jay Gilbertson says the grant will partially finance a dam to catch sediment and nutrients before they enter the Lake from an 830-acre watershed.

He says the dam will help with just one of many watersheds that impact Lake Madison.

East Dakota officials say the Water Development District funds will compliment assistance from the U-S Department of Agriculture's Environmental Quality Incentive Program, the South Dakota Department of Game Fish and Parks and the Lake Madison Development Association.
